Blending Cards

The Blending Cards were designed by an experienced infant teacher to be used as part of a whole-class, group or home activity, with the aim of supporting the students' journey to becoming confident, independent readers.

The set consists of 42 individual cards which detail the 42 main sounds of the English language. The cards include individual sounds as well as digraphs helping students to segment, blend, and read words in a variety of phonics patterns.

The cards are double-sided, measure 6cm x 8cm with a letter or a blend on one side and a picture prompt on the reverse.  They are colour coded and broken down into the 7 groups of sounds with an instruction guide and additional cards with sample words that can be blended together using each set of cards. The set comes with a protective cover, making them long lasting when bringing in and out of school.
