My Wellbeing - Year 3

My Wellbeing is a new Junior Cycle SPHE series based on the JC Short Course specification. The series covers all areas of the course in a graded fashion over years 1, 2 and 3.

This Year 3 book:

  • Further develops the key topics that have been introduced and engaged with in First and Second Year SPHE class. A well-balanced use of age-appropriate explanatory text and an inclusive mix of activity types are evident throughout the book.
  • Contains four chapters, linking to the four strands of the SPHE specification. Some topics recur in chapters allowing students to consider them in different contexts.
  • Focuses on helping students improve and maintain their own wellbeing: physical, emotional, social and spiritual.
  • Aims to be a valuable tool to students as they navigate adolescence and offers them life-long skills such as understanding what makes a healthy relationship, knowing the importance of self-management and considering what being healthy means for a teenager.
  • Encourages students to build empathy through end-of-chapter activities using a chosen avatar, themselves and others.
  • Facilitates class discussion, pair/group work and individual reflection throughout, as per the 3 cross-cutting elements of Awareness, Dialogue and Reflection & Action.
