This is the first book for pupils in Senior classes and the language and content are graded accordingly. Through the selection of appropriate content, the key areas of human environments, natural environment and environmental awareness and care are suitably addressed. The children are enabled to use maps and other resources to help them develop a broad range of graphical skills. They are also introduced to the physical features of Ireland and an ordnance survey map of the Sligo region, while also studying our nearest neighbour, Great Britain, and finally expanding to the European Community. The book ends with six interesting class quizzes as well as three blank maps which require filling in on the part of the pupils which aids the assessment process for the teachers.

This Geography Quest series complements the History Quest series and the Science Quest series to provide a comprehensive programme of S.E.S.E. activities for children.

The series meets the emerging needs of pupils and teachers by identifying the Strand Units/Objectives on the first page of each unit. Suggested integration with other subjects of the curriculum are given at the end of each unit. The authors are aware of the importance of language development in the revised curriculum. Consequently, new terms and geographical vocabulary that children will encounter are identified throughout the series and are highlighted in the Key Vocabulary section of each unit.
